With the election of Stephen Harper, remember the words of Bill Clinton: "Conservation is good economics." He'll throw out Kyoto. He'll throw out targets. But we can still agree on a thousand-and-one little projects. Because they'll save face. Because they'll create jobs. Nobody in Demark is ashamed that 20% of their electricity comes from wind. Some Japanese are proud that they produce more electricty from solar energy than does America. Everybody in the Phillippines benefits from producing more than 40% of their electricity from geothermal power (if from reduced emissions, if nothing else). Here in Canada, no politician is against creating a green economy. No politician is against these jobs. And there are real opportunities to make money implementing Kyoto - even if we're not a part of it. Be optimistic about the future.
